What is a kluge?
A kluge is a system made of poorly matched components. This term is usually
used to refer to a computer system. When I first found out what kluge meant,
I knew immediately that it defined my computer that I assembled out of
odd parts, and use to write these web pages.
Why aren't these pages updated more often?
I edit these pages for my own enjoyment in my spare time. I work full time
during the day and occasionally take classes at night. Needless to say
that I am only one person with a limited amount of time. It would be easier
to make changes to these pages if I received more feedback from the readers.
I will make attempts to keep the links up to date and will add more if
I can.
Why don't these pages use advanced features like
frames?
I do have an HTML editor that does frames, as well as the basic setup knowledge.
However, I have tried to make these pages available to people with older
or text only browsers. I myself, Telnet in to my UNIX shell account and
check out pages with Lynx(a character
based web browser). I do use style sheets. If your browser supports style
sheets, you may be seeing changes that I have already set up. Try turning
off your style sheets in your options and reload the page. To see my style
sheet format, you need to view klovian.css in
a text editor. More information on style sheets is available on my web
editing page.
Why don't you have more/better graphics?
I have never been an artistic wizard. I have a few tools for manipulating
images, but do not have any drawing programs other than Paint, which comes
with Windows 2000. If I get the time I hope to become more proficient in
the use of the image manipulating programs to sort of cobble together my
own graphics.
Can I copy any of the images on your pages?
All of the graphics on my pages have been borrowed from galleries on the
web. Some of the graphics are logos from specific sites. All of these graphics
are the property of their original owners and I would ask that you do
not copy them.
Why the plain white background?
My first attempt at web editing did not meet with much success. I violated
many of the rules of good
design. Someone that I worked with printed out my page with a color printer.
After looking at the results I was very disappointed. I used a dark green
marble background(pictured right) with pale yellow text. Unless you set
up your browser to print pages in all black(mostly for laser jet printers),
the pages are printed using only the text colors and not the backgrounds.
It was extremely hard to read the pale yellow text on white paper.(Example:
Yellow text on white background.) To make these pages more printable
I have switched to a light background with dark text.
Can I link to any of your pages?
Please feel free to link to any of my pages, on two conditions.

You inform me via email
of which page or pages you are linking to so that I may inform you of any
changes that I would make. This is in case I switch providers, get a mirror
site, change page names, or remove low use pages.
-
You use the full URL for the page(For example: http://www.fivon.com/klovian/index.html
). This is for browsers that do not support partial URLs and because my
pages are stored on a UNIX server(which is case sensitive). The complete
URL is provided at the bottom of the page.
